Aberystwyth Funicular and Camera Obscura

Constitution hill was the Victorian equivalent of a theme park. Today, take the longest electric funicular in the UK to the summit. There is a café, shop and play area. The 14” lens in the camera obscura reflects 1000 square metres of land around Aberystwyth, on a clear day spot 26 mountain peaks covering most of Wales. 

Bwlch Nant yr Arian Visitor Centre

Watch 150 – 200 red kites feeding daily. There are all ability trails, walking and cycling paths and a bridleway. Many trails follow ancient paths and there is a hill fort. A puzzle trail for youngsters, two adventure play grounds, visitor centre and café. 

Llanarchaeron

Owned by the National Trust, 25 minutes away at Aberaeron. Visit a Regency Mansion designed by John Nash, walled gardens, follow nature trails and take a break at Conti’s café for its delicious coffee and famous ice cream.

Site and visitor centre demonstrating solutions for sustainability. Talks, workshops, interactive displays, walking trails and children’s play area. Eco-shop and vegetarian restaurant on site. Within an hours drive from Tynrhyd Retreat.
